IBT시행 시기에 대한 ETS 공식 입장
당초 2005년 10월부터 실시 예정이었던 한국에서의 iBT TOEFL 시험 일정이 무기한 연기되었다. 자세한 향후 일정은 금년 11월 1일에 발표될 예정. 아래는 ETS가 공식적으로 발표한 내용이다.
2005년 9월 : 미국 CBT 방식은 9월 중순까지만 실시되며 9월 24일부터 IBT 방식 실시
2005년 10월 : 캐나나, 프랑스, 독일, 이탈리아
10월 15일 마지막 PBT 시험이 있을 예정이며, CBT 시험 역시 10월 중순까지만 시행된다. 새로운 IBT 시험은 10월 22일부터 전면 실시된다.
2005년 11월 : 2006년 일정 발표
ETS는 2005년 11월 1일 자사의 웹사이트(www.ets.org}를 통해 2006년 iBT TOEFL 시행 일정을 발표할 예정이다.

Timeline
The new TOEFL test is a breakthrough in testing because it measures all four language skills, emphasizes the ability to communicate, and will be delivered via the Internet.
In order to maintain test and score integrity and ensure a quality administration for test takers, ETS will introduce the new test in phases.
September 2005: UNITED STATES
The new test will first be administered in the United States. The current computer-based test will end in mid September, and the Internet-based test will begin on September 24.
October 2005: CANADA, FRANCE, GERMANY, AND ITALY
The last paper-based TOEFL test in these countries will be administered on October 15 and computer-based testing will end in mid-October. The new Internet-based test will begin on October 22.
NOVEMBER AND DECEMBER 2005
TOEFL iBT testing in Canada, France, Germany, Italy, and the United States.
SCHEDULE FOR 2006
By November 1, 2005, ETS will announce the 2006 launch schedule on this Web site, through advising offices, and in our publications.
ETS will continue to administer the current computer-based and paper-based versions of the test until the new Internet-based test is implemented.

iBT Practice Test
Princeton, N.J. (May 27, 2005) — ETS will offer a free practice test for the Internet-based Test of English as a Foreign Language™ (TOEFL iBT) to coincide with the beginning of registration for the new test on July 25, 2005.
The new TOEFL Internet-based test will begin September 24 in the United States. In October, the test will be offered in Canada, France, Germany and Italy, and will be administered worldwide in 2006.
Students will be able to access the TOEFL iBT practice test through the TOEFL Practice Online community, www.ets.org/toeflpractice. Besides access to the practice test, TOEFL Practice Online member benefits include access to:

discussion boards and daily study tips
the ETS/Hobsons online student community, a one-stop shop for information on studying in English-speaking countries (coming October 2005)
The free TOEFL iBT practice test is designed to help test takers become familiar and comfortable with the new test format. The practice test will present authentic questions and allow simulation of actual TOEFL iBT testing conditions.
The practice test includes the Reading, Listening and Writing sections of the new test, and test takers will receive instant feedback. The Speaking section is administered separately for a fee, and test takers will get feedback in about five days.
"Offering a free, online TOEFL iBT practice test reflects ETS's commitment to the success of our test takers and score users," explains Mari Pearlman, Senior Vice President of ETS's Higher Education Division. "Students can practice each language skill so that they can feel more confident about their ability to communicate with teachers, counselors, and other students. The practice test is just one example of a variety of print and online resources designed to keep everyone up-to-date about the new test."
